Why preparation matters

An airport transfer is not an on-demand street hail. SafarWay plans each journey in advance: vehicle choice, driver departure time, and access instructions for the terminal or meeting point. Incomplete details can lead to the wrong vehicle size, a mistimed arrival, or confusion on the ground.

Once your tickets are confirmed, gather the information you need. This guide lists what is useful to have ready before you send your request.

Airport pick-up versus airport drop-off

These two transfer types are organised differently. For an arrival pick-up, SafarWay follows the actual landing time and allows a reasonable window for immigration and baggage reclaim. For a departure drop-off, check-in or boarding time is the reference used to calculate departure from your accommodation.

State clearly whether you need to be met at arrivals or taken to the airport before a flight. That distinction shapes the whole arrangement.

Airport name and IATA code

Morocco has several international airports. To avoid confusion, give the full airport name and, if you know it, the three-letter IATA code. Airports regularly served include Marrakech Menara (RAK), Casablanca Mohammed V (CMN), Agadir Al Massira (AGA), Essaouira Mogador (ESU), Fès-Saïss (FEZ) and Ouarzazate (OZZ).

If your journey involves a connection or you land at an airport different from your final city, mention both stages.

Airport transfers in Morocco

Flight number

Sharing your flight number — for example AT 800 or FR 1234 — helps SafarWay follow your flight status. If the flight is delayed or early, the driver can adjust without needing an extra message from you.

Provide the number of the flight that lands in Morocco. For connecting itineraries, the final inbound segment is the one that matters.

Arrival or requested pick-up time

For an arrival transfer, give the scheduled landing time from your ticket. SafarWay factors in typical time for immigration and baggage. For a drop-off, state when you need to be at the airport; SafarWay will work out a suitable departure time from your accommodation.

For journeys not linked to a flight — for example a city-to-city transfer — simply state your preferred departure time from the origin.

Passenger number

Give the total number of passengers, including children. Any child who occupies a seat or needs a child seat must be counted. This information is essential for choosing a vehicle with enough seats.

If some passengers travel with unusually large luggage, mention that as well.

Luggage declaration

State how many checked bags and cabin bags you expect. Flag oversized items — large hard-shell cases, sports bags, diving gear — clearly. Boot space is limited, and precise details prevent last-minute loading problems.

Slightly overestimating is safer than underestimating. Less luggage than announced is never a problem; more can be difficult to accommodate at short notice.

Child-seat request

If you travel with young children or infants, state how many child seats you need and the approximate age or weight of each child. This must be included in the initial request, not on the day of travel.

Surfboard and bulky-item declaration

Surfboards and other bulky items need advance notice. Mention them in your request and give dimensions when you know them.

Some very large items may require a specific vehicle or may not fit every configuration. SafarWay will clarify options in the quote reply. Bicycle transportation is not offered as an available service.

Destination or pick-up address

A vague location — “somewhere in the medina” or “near the main square” — is not enough for a precise drop-off or pick-up. Give the full address, the name of your accommodation and, if possible, a clear nearby landmark.

For riads and stays inside historic medinas where vehicles cannot enter every lane, also name the nearest accessible gate or the drop-off point recommended by your accommodation.

Hotel, riad and accessible meeting points

When you leave from a hotel, the driver usually meets you at reception or at a point agreed in advance. For a medina riad, the meeting point must be precise: nearest main street, medina gate, or a clearly identifiable landmark.

Some properties give specific transfer instructions. If your hotel or riad has a preferred meeting place, pass that on to SafarWay with your request.

Schedule and flight changes

If your flight is changed, cancelled or heavily delayed after you send your request, tell SafarWay as soon as you know. More notice makes it easier to adjust logistics.

A change notified late — on the same day or only a few hours before departure — may not allow the same level of adaptation. Applicable timelines are set out in the booking terms.

Name-sign meeting at arrivals

When a driver meets you at arrivals, they present a sign with your name. State in your request exactly how that name should appear — surname, first name, or a group name of your choice.

If group members arrive separately, say which name to use so the meeting is clear in a busy arrivals area.

What happens after sending the request
